Marano Lagunare

[ 40m BY CAR ]

Territory of the Republic of Venice for almost 400 years, the historic fishing village of Marano Lagunare is very proud of its past, which can still be perceived everywhere: in the appearance of its historic centre; in its dialect; in its economy, granting fishing a role of fundamental importance; and in the typical seafaring cuisine.
Marano is also a point of departure to discover the lagoon: an area of extraordinary scenic beauty that is home to a unique fauna and flora of great natural value. It is characterised by a wetland vegetation and by the singularity of the fishermen’s temporary settlements, the typical “casoni“, constructions made from cane and wood that make the Marano Lagoon one of the most interesting places in the Upper Adriatic.
